FIFA Forward brings several improvements to Honduran FA
FIFA-certified artificial pitch recently installed at FA's headquarters
"This project will make a lasting contribution for generations to come"
The Honduran Football Association (FENAFUTH) continues to move forward. Indeed, thanks to FIFA’s development programme, FIFA Forward, football in the country and particularly the Honduran national teams will be able to benefit from the recently installed artificial pitch at FENAFUTH’s technical centre in Siguatepeque.
This pitch is part of a USD 510,000 package of improvements at the technical centre. The centre is ideally located for team get-togethers, being equidistant from the country’s two main cities, Tegucigalpa and San Pedro Sula, which are both around two hours away.
The artificial pitch, which will be FIFA-certified and is already available to the national teams, was officially delivered to FENAFUTH at the end of last month despite the difficulties generated by the COVID-19 pandemic. In addition to ground levelling and the installation of the artificial turf, the project also encompassed the ancillary works needed for the proper use of the pitch by the coaching staff and players of the various teams staying at “La casa de la H” (La H being the national team’s nickname). These include fixed and movable goalposts, substitutes’ benches, perimeter fencing and the equipment required for the pitch’s upkeep.
Describing the project, FENAFUTH President Jorge Salomon said: “This pitch will be an asset for all Honduran football, including the age-category national teams, youth football and the professional game. We thank FIFA, its Council headed by Gianni Infantino and all those whose dedication and support have made this happen. This project will make a lasting contribution for generations to come and will definitely help us in our bid to further the development of Honduran football.”
Over the coming weeks, the comprehensive refurbishment of the “La casa de la H” building will also be completed. Also funded with the help of FIFA Forward, this is a further example of the significant progress being made by FENAFUTH and the Honduran game as a whole.
